PREFACE

In a previous book called, “My God I Need Something,” I have tried to tell my friends in a very simple way what the Christian Renewal in the Holy Spirit is all about. This little book goes a bit further.

è You see, the work of the Holy Spirit is to lead us deeply into the Lordship of Jesus Christ to make us cry out with deep faith and childlike joy, "Jesus is Lord!" And saying it sincerely means we try to live with Jesus as total Lord of our total life.

è This book was written in the hope that under the gentle guidance of the Holy Spirit you will say, "OK, Lord, Take Over!"

My personal thanks to Bruce and Patricia Baker of  CharisMEDIA who have spent much time with me in preparing the manuscript for the press. And to Bob and Laura Hughes who have continually provided me with a quiet place for writing, hospitality, an office and library, my prayer of thanksgiving, "I thank my Lord for you!"

INTRODUCTION

It's a simple fact that many people are making a mess. of their lives. You may be one of them. To admit it to others is hard. What good would it do anyway? To admit it to yourself is discouraging. You only feel more frustrated. What good can come of repeating to yourself - I'm a mess?

But you've got to admit it to somebody or else you will burst apart with your uptightedness. Well, there's only one left. That's God.

"Right, Lord," you say. "You are the only One who can understand me. The only One who can help me. Lord, I'm a mess. Take over!"

When you begin to talk that way to God in the person of Jesus Christ you are on your way out of the mess. He takes over in a way that heals you. He rids you of your fears past, present and future. He gives you new hope, new peace, new direction in your life. How? Well, He invites you to come into His total Lordship. That is, He wants you to make Him total Lord of your total life.

OK, Lord, Take Over!

As a priest of the Congregation of the Holy Cross, George De Prizio has served in the capacity of a college dean, provincial religious superior, and missionary pastor. His present full-time ministry in the Charismatic Renewal began in 1970 in Lima, Peru. Since then, he has gained recognition as an international conference speaker and retreat director, well-known to Christians of all denominations through his ecumenical ministry. In addition to the United States (including Hawaii, and Puerto Rico), his world-wide charismatic journeys have taken him to Central and South America, the Scandinavian countries, Europe, Mexico, and India.

Recently Fr. De Prizio has been encouraged to spend more time making his teachings more widely available through books. Several of the books he has authored are described briefly on the inside cover.
